As each data release approaches, our clients eagerly await the results. Did they gain market share? How did their competition fare? How did the promotion they ran impact their numbers? These questions are posed by many different sources from within our clients’ companies: marketing, sales, advertising and product management, to name a few. When NPD data hits, clients want answers to these questions immediately.

Here’s a tip for quickly and easily populating your internal reports and presentations, using NPD data.

Let’s say you have 20 reports to run and a company full of people eagerly awaiting the data. A great way to satisfy your internal clients is to produce the reports they need – faster. Did you know that you can run all of the reports you need and have them exported to Excel with one click?

If you have a number of reports to run on a weekly or monthly basis, here’s how to save time:

Set-up:

  • Save all the reports you need to run in the same folder in “My Favorites” (When naming the reports, be sure to limit the names to 32 characters). This only needs to be done once.
Execution:
  • When you get the e-mail that lets you know your data is available, log in to Solution Folders
  • Go to “My Favorites”
  • Highlight the folder of reports you want to run
  • Click on “Export to Excel”

A few minutes later, you will receive an e-mail from NPD letting you know that the reports you requested have been run and are now available via Client Center. When you access Client Center, open the Excel file and you will see each of the reports you set up, in its own tab. You can then quickly update reports as needed. To take this a step further, you can set up macros in the reports or presentations you create – once this file is created, everything will be updated at once.
