We asked Harry Balzer, vice president of the NPD Group research firm, to look at 30 years of data on what Americans eat. “Every day, since 1976, we have asked 3,500 people if they have gone to a restaurant and what they ordered,” Balzer said. The most common thing women order? French fries.

Ultradata’s Operations, Stock Go Separate Ways

Ultradata's current product, the Road Genie, sells for about $50. Ross Rubin, director of industry analysis at NPD in New York, says it "was probably sandwiched in between the less expensive end of the car-navigation market and the free capabilities of Yahoo Maps and Google Maps."

According to information released today by The NPD Group, a leading consumer and retail information company, the results of text-message voting on the popular Fox Network talent show, "American Idol," might actually affect the final voting outcome. After all, Cingular Wireless has a dominant share of its subscriber base in the South and significantly more of those subscribers use text messaging, than do Cingular subscribers in other regions of the U.S.

Americans continue to hear about how potentially dangerous trans fatty acids are to their health. According to new research by leading consumer and retail information company The NPD Group, consumers already have a high awareness of trans fats. Despite this, they have not changed their behavior when it comes to the foods they eat at restaurants. They also remain unclear about which foods contain trans fats and whether restaurant foods contain more than foods at home.
