Jane Zimmy Tapped To Lead The NPD Group’s Eurotoys Division
The NPD Group announced that Jane Zimmy has been promoted to president of the company’s EuroToys business unit. A 30-year NPD veteran, Zimmy most recently was responsible for NPD’s European Operations. Before that, she had a leadership role in NPD’s U.S. transition to online data collection and was responsible for several crucial online data initiatives. In her new role, she will spend at least half of her time in Europe, based in Paris, but also in NPD’s four other European offices.
“When searching for the most qualified person to head up our EuroToys business, we were delighted to already have someone on the NPD team who was ideal for the role,” said Andy Tarshis, Europe group president, The NPD Group. “Jane was the first person NPD ever assigned to the toys business in 1978, and she helped to launch NPD’s first point-of-sale service for toys. She’s an excellent fit for this new leadership role.”
Zimmy replaces former EuroToys leader Anna Scott, who has decided to alter her worklife in order to spend more time with her family, but will still contribute to EuroToys by assuming the role of director of sales and marketing. She will also retain her management responsibilities for some key toy accounts.
“I’m very pleased that I’ll have the opportunity to work closely with the team in Europe, and also with my EuroToys counterparts in the U.S. and Australia: Vice President – Toys, Amy Hyland, based in our U.S. headquarters office, and Philippe Guinaudeau, director of NPD’s OzToys business. We’ll collaborate to achieve our goal of becoming an even more globally-focused marketing information partner for our clients,” Zimmy said.
In related EuroToys news, NPD recently recruited Fernando Perez as manager of EuroToys’ operations in Spain and Portugal. Perez was previously director of marketing at Bandai Spain. Werner Lenzner has been promoted to director, EuroToys Central Europe, where he oversees the business in Germany, Poland, and Austria. Silvio Castelli has been promoted to EuroToys manager in Italy. This rounds out the EuroToys management team, which also includes Frederique Tutt, U.K. director; Christophe Portal, France and Belgium manager; and Christina Charasse, product development manager.
“These changes to the toy team are all designed to strengthen NPD’s efforts to meet and exceed our clients’ ongoing need for the most reliable toys information available,” Tarshis said. “We’re confident that Jane and her staff will continue to build EuroToys, to ensure NPD clients have the reliable information they need to make fact-based business decisions.”
